Maylie continues to be a joy. She can now stand alone for a few seconds (16 is her record) and Elijah is a great encourager with her in this regard. She loves to pat her head.
She likes us to put toys on her head to balance them – she also likes to do this with food, so baths are frequent occurrences – sometimes more than once a day. She loves to take her socks off whenever and wherever we are – so shoes are a beautiful thing.
She has become a good sleeper at night – though she has some nasty bug right now – hacking, phlegmy couch and high fevers – so she’s not sleeping well the last few nights.
She enjoys taking baths with her big brother, but she splashes so much in the tub that her brother almost refuses to bathe with her.
She’s getting to know her Grandma’s and Grandpa’s better and they are beginning to see the ‘real’ Maylie. People continue to “ooh” and “ahh” over Maylie and we’ve had the opportunity on a few occasions to share our adoption journey story with different groups within our church family.
Yesterday (Sunday) I was at church getting ready for services and Rachel had Maylie in the bed with her. Elijah soon joined them and Rachel said that Maylie rose to her knees and began “preaching a sermon” of loud babbling noises complete with sweeping arm gestures.
This cute little nut has also recently begun doing a coy, flirtatious and very girly little giggle. “a tee hee hee”… and yet, she remains my little punk rocker

Some friends of ours are in China right now to bring home their daughter and we’re all very excited for them
Elijah continues to grow more in love with Star Wars, wanting to watch the movies (he would watch a different one each day if we let him) and playing with his action figures.
I took the kids one night so Rachel could get out with a few friends and do a “mom’s sleepover party”. They got a little crazy and decided to go to Wal*Mart at 8:30 that night to get coffee beans. Not so crazy so far, right? Well, they went in their modest PJ’s with towels on their heads and facial “masks”. I told Rachel they looked like soccer-mom terrorists. (check out these photos!)
I’ve started work on a cool new prayer/worship event Woodlands will be doing in late April called “A Maze of Grace” that has really stretched my creativity in a very good way. I’m pretty excited about it and am somewhat anxious to see how it turns out.
